An Experiment in Ethical and Sustainable Business.

Carved out of an old sausage factory, Grow has been transformed into an independent canal side bar, kitchen and creative space. It was built, and is run by a small team, and although we operate as a business we also rely on working within of the sharing economy of Hackney Wick and the surrounding area.  We partner with artists, musicians, DJ's and community groups to and hold as many free events as we can.  This year, we have Slow Fire London in the kitchen.

As an experiment without any investiment, it is not always easy to be financially sustainable but we make as many ethical choices as we can ( for example:  when working with partners,  the food and drink we offer and the use of the space for the community) that are based on collaborative good, not profit.  The more established and solvent we become, the higher percentage of our supplies can be locally sourced, free range, organic, fair trade and sourced from organisations that neither avoid their taxes nor invest in ethically dubious business. We also pay London Living Wage.

Grow is a space for music, art, food, conversation, community and belonging.  Everyone is welcome.

Hackney WickED - an annual arts event and open studios when we work with local artists and musicians to share work.
Wick Radio - a group of artists who run a local radio station who sometimes broadcast our events.
Hackney Wick Bouldering Project - a climbing centre also found in Main Yard and we offer members 10% off food and drink.
Hackney Herbal - we dedicate a planter to this social enterprise who hold volunteer sessions and harvest the herbs to make tea.
