On a Saturday night once every two months - African-infused electronic music comes to Hackney Wick with 'Motherland'. This all-welcome party takes place in our canalside warehouse and is hosted by DJs Kitty Amor, D-Malice, and Sef Kombo.
Growing from strength to strength, each night is filled with warmth, love, high-energy and great vibes. With the power of music, Motherland births an ever extending family as they become one in this sound. In the summer months, Motherland ventures into a more soulful side of the African influence. With the comfort of the great British weather, these sultry sounds feature on the canal-side of Grow from earlier hours in the day before digging deeper and hitting harder 4/4 beats after we move inside as the sun goes down.

Motherland is the home of African-infused electronic music. More than just a club event, it's also classified as a movement in a new style of music. Afro-House is a steadily growing genre that was originally birthed in South Africa although it has grown and branched out of the nation across the globe. The sounds of Africa has a heavy influence on all musical styles, however infusing this sound with 4/4 house productions has had a great impact on its listeners.
Resident DJs Kitty Amor, D-Malice and Sef Kombo are pioneering the surge following the has developed in deep/afro house music. Between these three extremely talented DJs/producers, they have been waving the flag for afro-house over a decade through their established record label, DM.Recordings which is Europe's leading label specialising in this sound headed by D-Malice. Individually they are internationally keeping the sounds of Motherland flourish across borders in countries such as South Africa, Croatia, Kenya, Ibiza, Amsterdam and more.

About Grow, Hackney
Grow is an independent bar, kitchen and creative space carved out of an old sausage factory by the River Lea in Hackney Wick. It is run as an experiment in ethical and sustainable business and works in partnership with local artists, musicians, DJ's and community groups. Every week we host events, ranging from live jazz and blues, open deck reggae, open mic, performance art to DJ collectives and more. We pay London Living Wage. We offer a range of organic and craft drinks from the inside and outdoor bar and from the kitchen, Slow Fire London, serves a seasonal menu which has been freshly prepared in the canal side kitchen.
Grow exists for music, art, food, conversation, community and belonging. Everyone is welcome.
