Introducing Kinetic Ubiquitous Bandwidth (KUB) the brainchild of sound designers and technicians, Larry Phillips and Janis Sokolovskis. Our current eco pod residents launch their new audio device, 'shmac'.
The pair have been focusing on multidisciplinary practices exploring new musical performance environments incorporating the use of active listening and embodied music cognition. Over the past few months, they have been working on Social Collaborative Heuristic Mobile Audio Controllers ('shmacs'). 'shmac' is an interactive device that allows participants to interact with sound using simple and intuitive gestures. The interaction is complementary to all levels of musical expertise and has a versatile range of applications.
The pair invites the community to the launch event, where there'll be interactive demonstrations of 'shmac', as well as a number of performances and other interactive audio installations.
