At Grow, we're big fans of the work of Core Arts in Hackney so for the 3nd year in a row, a team of runners are taking on the Hackney Half Marathon on Sun 19 May 2019 to help support them!

Runners, friends and family, come down to the half marathon after party on Sun 19 May 2019 to celebrate and help support local mental health charity Core Arts.

Legendary Dominic Benjamin will be on the decks so this is the place to come unwind enjoy the vibes. We'll also be raising money on the day by donating 10% of the profits from the event

If you want to run with us, here are 3 simple steps:

1) If you already have a place OR are still able to get one - please check the Hackney Half Website to see if places are still available…

2) Email hello@growhackney.co.uk to register your place (we have a limited number for the team so don't delay). On the day, we'll have a table reserved for us all to unwind after the run. In return for your effort, lunch and 2 free drinks are on us!

FREE before 10pm, £5 on the door after £10. You don't need to have an eventbrite ticket but if you do sign up, we'll keep you informed and its also a chance to make an online donation to XR - all funds are appreciated.

Hackney Winter Night Shelter provides a hot meal and a warm bed for homeless guests who would otherwise be out on the streets during the coldest winter months, and offers professional and holistic support to help guests rebuild their lives. Hackney Winter Night Shelter is volunteer-led and has been opening doors to homeless people in the borough since 1993. It is run by Hackney Doorways (registered charity no.1139183).

Last year THE HOMELESS SUPPORT STAND UP PROJECT was a huge success involving some of the biggest clubs in the UK, including The Comedy Store, The Frog & Bucket and The Soho Theatre. About 30 events raised around £9000 collectively, which was distributed to various non-profit homeless charities throughout the UK.

GREENPEACE QUIZ NIGHT // IN AID OF THE ANTARTIC OCEAN

Join us on Monday 8th October for a super fun Pub Quiz evening in support of creating an Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary!

It's just under a month until the Antarctic Ocean Commission are meeting, where they will have a chance to create a Marine Protected Area around the Antarctic.

Greenpeace groups are kicking up a musical buzz to demonstrate support for the Sanctuary which will create a healthier ecosystem, protect the unique creatures that live there, maintaining it as a carbon sink and support global food supplies. After all our campaigning so far this is the final push - and a fun one at that!

As well as a Pub Quiz (with great prizes!) we'll have some live music from amazing homegrown talent in the Shoreditch group.

To wave goodbye to summer, Loose Lips are raising funds and spreading the awareness of Core Arts, an amazing Hackney-based charity who promote positive mental health and well-being through creative learning. Their amazing artistic work with mental health patients was shown to lead to a 96% non-re-admission rate in a recent NHS study.
